Udyog Aadhaar MSME/SSI unit is an entity which meets set criteria. Udyog Aadhaar, MSME or SSI unit registration is not mandatory as per any statute but entities can avail few benefits available under different laws by registering themselves.

Registration of Udyog Aadhaar/SSI units is undertaken by respective state governments. Almost all the states adopt uniform registration procedure which is as follows: Provisional Registration: Units are required to obtain Provisional Registration Certificate before the commencement of the business which will be valid for 5 years. Units can apply for Permanent Registration Certificate in the prescribed form once the business is commenced.
