The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) certificate has now become mandatory for all manufacturers, traders, restaurants and those who are involved in food business, commonly termed as Food Business Operators (FBOs). Therefore, any organized food manufacturing or processing or packaging or distributing entity is now required to obtain a FSSAI License before commencing business.

FSSAI has 3 categories based on Annual turnover

FSSAI Registration – turnover below 12 lakhs annuall

FSSAI State License – turnover between 12 lakhs to 20 crores annuall

FSSAI Central License – turnover above 20 crores annaul
